The Twin Giants of Kemer

Between the villages of Çamyuva and Kemer, two large rock formations rise side by side from the lower slopes of the Taurus Mountains, facing the coastline below. They are near-identical in shape and size — close enough in appearance that the name İkiz Kayalar, Twin Rocks, required no deliberation. Their official name is Karataş. Of volcanic origin, these two rock masses have become one of the most recognisable natural landmarks on this stretch of coast, visible clearly from the beach and from the sea.

The formations lie within Beydağları Coastal National Park. Viewed from the shore or from a boat offshore, they stand out distinctly against the mountain slope — a pair of dark pillars that give the Kemer coastline one of its most characteristic silhouettes.

Rock Climbing

İkiz Kayalar is best known among climbers as one of the finest sport climbing destinations on Turkey's southern coast. Routes of varying technical grades make it accessible to both experienced climbers and those at an intermediate level. The rock surface and height make unsupported climbing by beginners inadvisable; guided climbing services operate in the area and should be contacted in advance.

The trails leading to the rock faces intersect with the Lycian Way, meaning long-distance walkers following that route also pass within close range of the formations.
