The Mystery in the Steep Cliffs of Pisidia
Located at an altitude of 1200 meters within the boundaries of Sırtköy, north of Manavgat, Etenna is known as a Pisidian city that defies the rugged nature of the Taurus Mountains. With its massive walls and rock-cut steps suddenly appearing through the mist, it gives visitors a sense of true adventure.
Turning Points of History
Etenna was a powerful and independent settlement in antiquity, enough to mint its own coins. The "Tree and Snake" figures on its coins carry mysterious clues about the city's local mythology and religious beliefs. With its location dominating the Pamphylian plains, it both supervised trade routes and served as a natural fortress against invasions.
Grand Ruins: Heroon and Cisterns
The most striking structures in the city are the monumental tombs (Heroon) built on steep slopes and the massive cisterns that met the water needs. The workmanship of the walls showcases the mastery of the Pisidian people in stone masonry. Looking out from the city's highest point, the Manavgat Plain and the Mediterranean are spread out beneath your feet.
