An Emperor’s Last Breath and the Seljuk Touch
Built on a massive rocky outcrop plunging into the sea at the Gazipaşa coast, Selinus is not just an ancient city but the site where an emperor who changed world history passed away. Roman Emperor Trajan fell ill while returning from his eastern campaign and died here in 117 AD.

The city's history dates back to the 6th century BC. After Trajan's death, it was briefly called "Trajanopolis." The "Şekerhane Köşkü," a Seljuk structure built atop an ancient site, is a unique mark of Seljuk architecture in the region.
